Hi, I’m Liz! Here’s my personal website. I live in Lehi, Utah, and currently garden on a half-acre suburban yard in a cold, semi-arid, zone 7a climate.
I started gardening as a teenager. I fell in love with it so much that I decided to study horticulture. Then I had children. As a full-time mom, I started doing garden designs for friends, as well as teaching community education. I studied more about permaculture, water-wise, and sustainable designs. After a while, I was itching to get more education and decided to continue to learn more about design and landscapes by studying landscape architecture. And while I was doing that, I also found the field of instructional design that paired well with my love of education. Twenty years after that first vegetable garden, here’s my list of qualifications:
- Licensed Landscape Architect in Utah
- Master in Landscape Architecture
- Master of Arts in Instructional Technology and Learning Science
- Permaculture Design Certificate
- Bachelor of Science in Ornamental Horticulture
If that isn’t enough for you, I’ve worked as a
- Extension educator
- Landscape designer
- Community garden coordinator
- Landscaper with public gardens
- Mother of five
- Avid, and somewhat reluctant, gardener
I started Responsive Gardens as a way to not only design residential landscapes but also develop other resources and tools that help everyone be successful with their yard and garden. There are a lot of ideas in my head, so keep checking back to see what new things are coming! And if you want a resource that you can’t find, hit me up with the idea.
